Stars Reach talks Kickstarter test access, world resets, player governance, and player-made contracts

With Stars Reach wrapping up an extremely successful Kickstarter drive, Playable Worlds is now eager to crank out bunches of information. We’ll begin with details shared from that Kickstarter, which explains how backers will get testing access to the sandbox: Existing testers will not be removed from the pool, but the studio does state that “backers will be prioritized in future playtests” while also pointing out that more players will be needed soon for stress tests as the game heads into 24/7 access. Dates and timing have not been provided yet.

The rest of the post otherwise showcases some player builds from the game as well as a pair of videos that have some errant details sprinkled throughout their hour-long runtime. Some of the bean drops include some initial details about player-made contracts that can be created with an escrow mechanic intended to prevent trolling or abuse, as well as a promise to limit world resets as much as possible unless things like limited resources force PW’s hand; that last tidbit comes from some patch notes that are due to arrive sometime this week.

The second video embedded below primarily involves a dev digging to find a diamond-filled asteroid that got buried in sand during a world event, which also happens to showcase methods to combat the planetary physics model to make the dig effective and safe. This video also talks up future plans for community events and more guild spotlights and discusses a very rough (and, crucially, still unprepared) system for players being named a mayor that involves players handing a “red card” to someone who exhibits leadership skills.
