When Fawkes Games licensed Defiance from Gamigo and resurrected the old MMORPG from the dead, it was adamant about bring up the base game first, without all the DLC Trion Games had added over its original run. But now, the game has clearly entered its next phase as the studio has begun the first leg of its DLC rollout with the return of some of the content from the original Defiance Castithan Charge DLC from – wait for it – 2013.
“Castithans are back!” Fawkes announced this morning. “DLC gameplay features will be available for FREE: race, contracts, pursuits, arenas, chargeblades, etc. Some Castithans’ DLC cosmetic items will be available or come later on into the store.” Castithans, of course, are the super pale dudes in the game and TV show.
The update rolled out early this morning, meaning you can already access it, though Fawkes warns players they’ll need to patch up and grab the quest from the recording in-game (there’s a video helper in Discord if you’re lost).
“[S]ome players could still have the content locked at release[;] you will need to continue playing until triggering some event updating your characters’ data like ego increase, weapon experience, upgrades, etc. Just continue playing organically and will be eventually activated.”
