Albion Online is struggling with fresh DDOS attacks – again – ostensibly from banned RMT botters

Albion Online players will already know that the game has been suffering from DDOS attacks for the last few days – and Sandbox Interactive appears to have a pretty good idea of what group might be interested in messing with the PvP MMORPG’s infrastructure and uptime.

Yesterday, the studio told players that the “servers are currently facing performance and connectivity issues caused by an ongoing DDoS attack” and that “countermeasures are being actively adjusted in cooperation with our server host.” Those attacks apparently continue this morning.

“The DDoS attacks on our servers are still ongoing,” the devs write. “Funny how these things always seem to follow major RMT banwaves.” Oh. Makes a lot of sense now. This has happened repeatedly to the PvP MMO – including times we recorded it in 2017, 2019, and 2023. The 2017 incident even involved an attempt to extort the studio. Exhausting.

Anyhow, while the servers are struggling, the SBI is asking for patience – and promising compensation.

“We know this has been frustrating for everyone (us included), and we want to put your minds at ease. We will be providing compensation for those on the affected servers once the attacks are fully resolved and the game is stable again. As for the scope of compensation, we’ll look at that as soon as everything is back on track.”

Do note there was a small update to the Abyssal Depths patch yesterday; the team added marketplace vendors to the new Antiquarian’s Den, adjusted rewards for the journal questing track, and tweaked mob leashing and treasure in the Depths themselves.

Update
Compensation is apparently going to be a free day of premium time.
