Visionary Realms isn’t holding back any bluntness in its Pantheon blog post today addressing its plans to revamp the playable Summoner class.
“If you’ve played the Summoner for any length of time, you are probably aware that the class is currently… lacking,” the team writes. “Common complaints from the community have centered around the boring and cumbersome swarm mechanic, subpar pet performance, a host of unused abilities in the spell book and a general lack of feeling like a master of summoning.”
To address that, Visionary Realms says that it plans to convert the Swarm ability into a stackable damage-over-time spell, improve bomb-type abilities, ensure pet abilities use the caster’s mana pool, buff the Fury and Zephyr pets, change the Undine pet to focus more on buffs and passives, and temporarily disable the Titan for its move to the Mastery line, all with the goal of making the Summoner’s, er, summons the main form of the class’s damage – but still providing some personal options.
Summoners will also get the rather old-school ability to summon things like consumables, lights, buff items, and temporary items like containers and gear.
The Summoner refresh is expected next month.
