Do you ever worry that you chose poorly when it came to picking an MMO race? For some Elder Scrolls Online players, this fear is compounded by actual research showing that there’s a disparity in damage performance thanks to racial bonuses.
Through an extensive series of direct damage tests in a raid setting, one ESO guild – Hell Runners – sought to see how the various race/role combinations would perform if equipped with similar gear. Generally, it’s great news for those who have rolled a Dunmer, Altmer, or Khajit, as those races have strong showings across the board. Others, such as Bretons and Orcs, trade off significant strengths with weaker showings in other roles. And finally, races like Nords, Argonians, and Imperials are shown as generally behind the curve in comparison to the others.
This is part of a continuing (and fierce!) debate within the community about class/race balance, especially in light of recent racial passive changes by ZeniMax. “I was up in arms about these modifications, but you can’t argue the numbers and visualisations in OP,” posted one player. “I suggest letting it sink in… ZOS has damn near achieved the impossible here. Any non-DPS race, with adequate load out and rotation, is level-pegged enough for DPS role. Only Imperials are distinctly separated; changes are not final, and this broad data set helps to illustrate that.”
If you're still running around with your eyes closed screaming that the racial changes have made dark elf useless and that "there's no reason to be optimistic about these racial changes because theyre garbage", enlighten yourself with actual test numbers: https://t.co/LFmB0PFwvO
