Respawn and EA announced this morning a big milestone for surprise battle royale hit Apex Legends: It’s just racked up its 50 millionth player.
Like its nearest rival Fortnite, it’s a free-to-play title, but it’s still a massive accomplishment for a new title in a sub-genre that’s technically still new to the mainstream. Fortnite itself reached 200M back in November, 78M of those being counted as “active.” Both games are still topping Twitch viewership, along with the League of Legends.
As part of the announcement this morning, Respawn and EA dropped an infographic trailer on Twitter touting other stats, like 158M finishers used, 1.23B ultimates activated, 31B pings placed, 170M respawns, and over 16.5M deathbox graveyards found. Well that’s festive.
