Lord of the Rings Online surprised fans by announcing on its Friday devstream that a new instance is in the works for next month. This will arrive in conjunction with Daybreak’s “Year of the Dragon” celebration and may involve more than just a new dungeon in LOTRO.
Before that, Update 41 with its PvP revamp and Birding hobby is targeting July 23rd for a release, although that is not a hard date quite yet. LOTRO is also prepping an official Discord with volunteer moderators which should arrive by September.
Another Mordor legendary server preview test may be coming this week, although the studio said that “much is up in the air.” More information for these new servers will be forthcoming in a full blog post, and the studio is “still targeting July” for their release.
Executive Producer Rob Ciccolini said that the studio may keep the EU-based Mordor server online after its progression run is through: “The server being located in Europe is a special case; that server would be left open so long as the server is well populated and it is financially viable for us to continue it.”
SSG also announced when its next crafting events, plural, will happen: “First, we are bringing back the Forester Crafting Event starting on Monday, July 15th at 10am Eastern, running until 3am Eastern on July 25th. Second, we’re tentatively scheduled the first Hard Tack Crafting Event to begin on August 1st starting at 10am Eastern and running until August 12th at 3am Eastern.”
