EVE Vanguard talks up its vision for ‘a true MMOFPS’ in latest video

For better or worse, CCP Games has had no lack of lofty aspirations, and while many of them have either fallen flat or are arguably against the playerbase’s wider wishes, the studio is absolutely stepping on the gas for its EVE Vanguard FPS module as the devs talk about the grand vision in a recent video.

“The vision for Vanguard is a true MMOFPS,” states product director CCP Rattati. “It’s a long-term vision and we want to follow the footsteps of EVE Online. […] We want players on the EVE side to become content creators for the Vanguard.”

The video continues to talk about how Vanguard is meant to have an impact on the sandbox of EVE itself, encourages former fans of DUST 514 to hop in since it will ring familiar to those players, and argues that Vanguard is a way for those who are not exactly keen on playing EVE specifically to join New Eden “in a new way” and “contribute to the history of tomorrow.” The devs also talk about how development of Vanguard is attempting to cater to multiple playstyles and how they’re using multiple playtests to gather as much feedback as possible.

Finally, the video once again references a “big release” for November, which will be similar in scope to its most recent Solstice build. Until then, CCP is encouraging players to join the founder’s program on Discord or await the Steam early access release.
