It’s been a little bit since Grand Fantasia crossed our collective minds, so that means we need to review for a moment: The anime MMORPG was offloaded by Gamigo in 2022 to developer X-LEGEND, which took over in February 2023 albeit with some difficulty, though the studio had big expansion plans for the title; it’s been receiving pretty regular updates ever since.
It would appear that X-LEGEND isn’t quite done with Grand Fantasia on the whole, as a Redditor spotted another version of the game on Steam known as Grand Fantasia: ORIGIN, a self-described “fully upgraded” edition of the MMO.
GF: Origin’s Steam page calls attention to a fully upgraded engine, several quality-of-life optimizations for certain gameplay mechanics, and a return to gameplay basics related to its class system. Origin also promises its own unique class, multilingual support, and the ability for players to combine talent cards and equipment to create a distinct gameplay style.
A firm release date for Origin’s arrival isn’t tied down beyond some time in the third quarter of this year, but the game can obviously be wishlisted on Steam or fans can pre-register to snag a gift box.
