Frontier Developments’ monthly studio-wide livestream has once more provided some tasty tidbits for Elite: Dangerous players. Following a teaser image earlier this month, FDev has taken the wraps off of the game’s third upcoming new ship.
Say hello to the Mandalay, a new medium-sized exploration ship from manufacturer Zorgon Peterson that promises maneuverability both in space and in atmospheric flight, a jump range that FDev says could give the Anaconda some competition, and supercruise overdrive functionality built-in.
The Mandalay will be arriving in the next major content update alongside the rework of powerplay (aka Powerplay 2.0) sometime in October, which does represent a delay from its originally projected summer release window in order to get things “just right.” Fans can expect a forum thread that will field questions on the subject “in the next week or so.”
Meanwhile in E:D community news, the Lave Radio podcast has hit the incredible milestone of 500 episodes. As one would imagine, the episode takes something of a well-deserved victory lap as it looks back with listeners on their favorite moments from the show. As runners of a podcast that’s nearing a similar milestone ourselves, we’d like to extend a hearty congratulations to Lave Radio and a hope for as many more episodes as sanity allows.
