Sony’s State of Play presentation wasn’t only about a new name for ArcheAge 2; it also brought a couple of big reveals for our corner of the gaming world, namely for the survival sandbox Palworld and the multiplayer RPG Monster Hunter Wilds.

First, in a surprise announcement (and one that some gamers are processing as a glowing middle finger raised at the House of Mario), Sony and Pocketpair have confirmed that Palworld is available to play on the PS5 console for $30. This reveal comes in spite of the fact that Pocketpair is facing a patent lawsuit by Nintendo, which very likely is one that the survivalbox developer is going to lose according to legal expert analysis.

In less controversial but still delightful news for fans, Monster Hunter Wilds confirmed a February 28, 2025 launch date for the PS5 as well as on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The reveal was introduced along with a new trailer that teases some of the RPG’s story beats and shows off three new monsters: the leviathan Uth Duna, the flame-throwing brute wyvern Quematrice, and the mysterious apex monster Arkveld aka The White Wraith. This date reveal has most assuming that a demo for the title isn’t too far behind and may possibly be confirmed during Tokyo Game Show this weekend.
