Every year, we elevate certain stories with awards – we pluck out the biggest surprise, the most exciting story, the story we wish we hadn’t had to write. But there are so many stories that get overlooked when they happen early on the year, happen to smaller games, or get drowned out by much bigger trainwrecks. So I have a few I want to bring back into the spotlight for just a little more scorn.
- Blizzard (Microsoft) canceled the survival MMO Odyssey. Sigh.
- Palia was super deceptive for no good reason about the fact that it’s still in beta.
- Multiple studios like Blizzard, Daybreak, and Sandbox Interactive got very ballsy with their pay-to-win tactics.
- Daybreak charged $1500 for tickets to Fippyfest.
- Blizzard’s mystery line shenanigans.
What would you argue was the biggest MMO trainwreck that (almost) nobody noticed last year?
