Guild Wars 2’s second stronghold beta test is happening right now

The fight of the century — or at least the next 24 hours — is on in Guild Wars 2. The fantasy MMO is running a second public beta test for its new stronghold PvP mode, and players are invited to come in and fight with members of the development team.

This stronghold test contains several additions and tweaks from its first run, including map changes, adjustments to the rules, stronger guards, and even a “devastating” new attack by the stronghold’s lord.

A 16-team tournament will be running during this test as well, with players competing for a coveted mini llama and gem codes. The stronghold PvP map will be but one of many features coming with this year’s Heart of Thorns expansion pack.

Siphaed I agree, It’s a very offensive-rewarding set up. I think if the NPCs did a better job of defending it might offset things. I think the NPCs defensive strength/health should alter based on the score. So if you’re losing the NPCs gain more health and do more damage…this would only go up a very small percentage. Once the score is tied the NPCs health and damage output should return to normal.

Seems like there is a lot of interest in this game mode.

Unfortunately, the game isn’t well balanced to counter rushing.  We had 2 pushers and 3 defenders, yet the enemy still burned through our gates and guards like they were paper.  The Lord took longer than last time I played the match, yet still went down pretty easily.
