Dark Age of Camelot announces its Otherworlds Campaign

15

The RvR frontier of Dark Age of Camelot is about to heat up, as Broadsword is on the verge of unleashing its multi-month Otherworlds Campaign.

The Otherworlds Campaign, which will commence when Patch 1.118 releases, will take players through a story arc in the summer and fall. Players will have opportunities in both PvE and PvP to progress through the campaign’s multiple stages, and by doing so they’ll be able to help their realms and secure rewards (including new stat caps).

The campaign is currently on the test server for those too excited to wait for the official start.

Jack Pipsam eLdritchMD Koshelkin well my dislike for EA doesn’t just come from how they handled DAoC ;) I’m quasi boycotting EA for all their nonsense and DAoC just kind of ends up being collateral damage.

Also, I really don’t dig it that much with all the updates anyway… I much prefer classic, pre ToA  DAoC

eLdritchMD Koshelkin I dunno, I don’t think EA has been that unfair to this game.
After all EA could have easily closed the game many times now.

Flocke Mark sold the IP to EA, EA are under no obligation to sell it back when they are still running the game.

Nanulak So what you think all MMOs which aren’t new should be closed and given up on?
Defeats the point don’t you think?

Arrobee Well by general principle publishers don’t sell their IPs.

Oh baby keep it coming!
Broadsword is one the best things to happen in such a long time, they’ve shown great dedication to the game.

I read this and think, WOW, this gives me hope that there will be Pong II.  Adding onto the old is still old with a new view.  Personally, I do not have high hopes here.

I loved DAoC. But as others have said. I can’t touch it out of principle now. Not while any money goes to BS or EA.
Also, I love how every announcement about DAoC, shifts to a discussion about CU. Wish Mark wasn’t shafted on the selling of this IP. Would have been nice to see the creator get his work back.

Please stop spreading the lie about pve. CU will have pve content. Resource gathering from NPCs and NPC guards defending structures or territory.
Truths:
The game will not have pve progression. (This DOES NOT mean no pve.)
The game will not focus on quests. (if at all)
There will be npcs in the game.
It may be possible to avoid pvp and just grind animals for pelts or whatever the resource may be. So the pve is there, you just won’t benefit in ability leveling or stat growth.

Xomon Sales are not the measure of a good game. If you enjoy PvP, why not play CU to meet your PvP needs and play something else for your PvE needs? You say a game going in one direction isn’t good for sales, but a game going in two directions (in my experience) means that neither are of the quality they could have been if all the effort was focused on one.

Besides, the market is saturated with tons of games featuring PvE content either exclusively, or with PvP tacked on. If you truly love PvP, you would be doing yourself a great disservice by not seriously considering Camelot Unchained.
