Check out this handy Guild Wars 2 build calculator

Here’s your Guild Wars 2 public service announcement of the day: Don’t get so caught up in the expansion fever and the price wars that you forget that there’s a sizable content patch coming between now and Heart of Thorns!

One of the big changes with the upcoming patch is the replacement of the current trait system with the new specializations. Enterprising Guild Wars 2 fan site Into the Mists is helping players prepare for the change by creating a handy build calculator for both PvE and PvP characters.

The calculator walks you through potential new builds step by step. Give it a try and let us know what you think. Or you can go sign the petition and try to get your money back at the cost of your account. Either one. Pitchforks for everyone.

You’ll be able to choose 3 trait lines with 1 at most being an elite specialization as you can’t have multiple elite specializations at once. Heart of Thorns is only adding one elite specialization per profession so that won’t matter yet. You can read a basic summary on the wiki.

Akami I’m hoping you can use them before level 80. Otherwise theyre largely pointless except for endgame purposes.

Confused on how the elite specialization’s work.  Will they open up an entirely new set of specialization’s available?  Very confused on how these elite spec’s work, and how they change the classes.

Mezla I prefer the visual style of the one on dulfy, but that one doesn’t include skills/weapons/armor afaik. It’s only specializations.

Midgetsnowman The necro trait Blood Bond, and some of the grandmasters for thieves and necros seems worded a bit oddly.  The Blond bond traits says if you apply 4 stacks of bleed to a target cast a lesser sigil of vampirism.  Which I guess is baby version of the heal, but it doesn’t tell you how many stacks of siphon on hit it adds or how much life it’s stealing.  It just says “Cast a Lesser Sigil of Vampirism”.  It doesn’t even mention if there’s a cooldown or if it’s every 4 stacks.  Something to play with.

I’ll just wait for a thread update from Brazil.
