Holiday events in MMORPGs are nothing new, but World of Warcraft’s upcoming micro-holidays are a little bit different. These aren’t extended holidays meant to commemorate real-world events; they’re little events meant to celebrate things within the world of Azeroth (and Draenor) that offer players some small toys at most. The first batch of micro-holidays coming with patch 7.1.5 has been revealed on the official site, as well as the dates that players can expect to take part.
None of these events is lengthy, as the longest ones run for three days at a stretch. But they’re a chance to break from usual questing to take in something unique, including hot-air balloon rides with in-game characters, brawls with dinosaurs, and a chance to raise your own Murloc tadpole. If you like having a reason to move a bit off of the beaten path for questing, you should be quite enamored of these new holidays; just don’t expect a whole new wardrobe from them.
