Neverwinter announces Lost City of Omu for February 27; check out the new trailer!

Perfect World has just announced a new update for Dungeons and Dragons MMO Neverwinter – its first big update of the year and another chapter in the ongoing storylines set in the jungles of Chult. “On February 27, prepare to enter the Lost City of Omu!” PWE posted.

“There is more to the Tomb of Annihilation and the death curse gripping Faerûn, and adventurers must seek answers in the Lost City of Omu. A mysterious new zone filled with crumbling temple ruins and a labyrinth of underground tunnels offers new monsters to hunt, treasures to uncover, repeatable adventures and Heroic Encounters featuring the dreaded Tyrant, an undead T-Rex with unique attacks. Continuing their campaign against the evil lich, adventurers will delve into a lair infested with yuan-ti, where they must beat the odds and unearth secrets of the Trickster Gods to overcome Acererak and the death curse.”

Players can further expect “a wealth of improvements to the Neverwinter experience for players at all levels, including adjustments to class powers, removal of the 60-70 leveling curve for smoother player progression and a deeper Tomb of Annihilation campaign” and a brand-new trial for endgamers where they’ll take on Acererak himself.

We don’t know when to expect it on console, but given that Sword of Chult just launched there yesterday, you probably already know it’ll be a bit of a wait.

And lo, a teaser trailer appeared in our inbox!

Just got back into this game the last few weeks on my level 60 (now 64). The progression curve post-60 feels pretty slow. It’s certainly not [too] fast though which is a good thing I guess. “removal of the 60-70 leveling curve for smoother player progression” sounds nice.

Boohoo that the console peasants have to wait for this. :P
