Today’s Fallout 76 hotfix is officially the game’s last update of 2018, but the folks at Bethesda are already looking ahead to 2019 in the latest Inside the Vault, which gives players a brief look at what they can expect when the new year rolls around. The next game update will be coming in “mid-January,” and it seems that it will primarily focus on implementing bug fixes, “including fixes for the Lever-Action Rifle reload animation, some perk cards,” as well as for the issue that causes robots at the Whitespring to spontaneously multiply.
In addition, the devs acknowledge that players often want to know not only what changes were made in a patch but also why those changes were made. As such, they say that “[b]eginning in 2019, patch notes will include some brief thoughts from our developers that hopefully gives the community more insight into the changes we’re making and why.”
The post also reveals that the team is working on a new game mode “where you can work together, or not, without PvP restrictions.” Players can expect to get their hands on this new game mode “sometime in the first quarter of the year.”
And last, but not least, as next week’s Inside the Vault will release on Christmas, the devs are asking players to send them their best festive screenshots from the Appalachia wastelands by posting them on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #Holiday76. The devs’ favorite entries will be featured in next week’s Inside the Vault.
