The latest RuneScape patch is live today, and with it comes a bundle of boons for blacksmiths in the form of a variety of quality-of-life improvements. The main focus of these improvements is to increase the usefulness of Stone Spirits. As it stands, Stone Spirits are often not worth carrying due to the ready availability of ore on the market, which the devs say is due in part to the fact that “Mining in its current state is far more intensive than Smithing.”
As such, the devs have implemented a few changes that are “intended to make Smithing more AFK-able,” including giving players the ability to have multiple unfinished items at once and increasing the amount of crafting progress per swing for items at medium, low, and no heat. That’s only the tip of the proverbial iceberg, as the patch also brings upgradeable armor spikes and an improved autoheater, among other things, the full details of which you can find in the patch notes and accompanying dev blog.
And there’s plenty more for players to look forward to in the coming weeks, as June will see the addition of the much-anticipated Completionist Cape rework, which will change the cape’s utility benefits, such as teleports and stat buffs, to be tied to the player rather than the cape itself. The month will also bring the beginning of the weapon diversity beta, which will allow players to test the upcoming changes that will aim to give each of RuneScape’s myriad weapon types its own unique feel and playstyle. During the beta, which will run for a month, players “will have access to not only their own loot but also specially made high-tier weapons of those weapon types that don’t currently exist.”
And last, but not least, this month players will be able to prepare for their journey to the isle of Anachronia in the upcoming The Land Out of Time update by aiding in the construction of a seaworthy vessel capable of transporting adventurers to the new land. You can learn more about all of this and everything else coming to RuneScape this month over on the game’s official site.
