The Egyptian-themed crafting game A Tale in the Desert is currently winding down its eighth “Telling,” with the final weeks offered for free to anyone who would like to play it. Following a post-mortem AMA on August 24th and 25th and an end-of-server party, the team behind this unique MMO will be spinning up the ninth iteration of the game at the end of the month on the 30th.

With each Telling in this game, the team has taken the opportunity to change some of the rules and add or subtract various features. So what’s coming with Tale 9? The dev team said that this will be a 15-month journey that includes new test mechanics, new skills, additional scenery and homesteads, a brand-new user interface, and the abolition of all levels due to a “completely new skill experience.”

Players can go ahead and register their names for Tale 9, and those who pre-order the entirety of the Tale’s subscription can access the alpha test right now.
