The end of Dungeons and Dragons Online’s permadeath server approaches

As the mound of slowly decaying corpses pile up on Dungeons and Dragons Online’s permadeath server, players only have a few more weeks to try to evade the grim reaper in an attempt to secure exclusive prizes. The hardcore league shard was always meant to be a time-limited experiment, which is why it will be ending on November 15th.

Standing Stone Games published a FAQ on the forums about how the server will wrap up its run next month. “The Hardcore League will remain open through November 15th, and the event will formally come to an end when we close the worlds at an exact time to be announced as we get closer to the end date,” the studio said. “After that time, we will collect the data we need to announce winners, prepare for their inclusion in a list for the Hall of Heroes, publish character names in the DDO Chronicle, and do anything else we need to.”

SSG will be re-opening the server in December for “several weeks” so that players will be able to prepare their characters for transfers from the hardcore shard to regular servers.

So will this experiment come back in the future? “At this time we have nothing to say officially about a return of the Hardcore League.”
