A lot of time whenever the subject of MMORPG sequels arise, the thought is for the same studio to make a proper successor with the same IP, just with better graphics and new features. But now that we’re in the era of spiritual successors — such as Pantheon, Legends of Aria, and Ship of Heroes — I think there’s another type of wish that we could whisper into our pillows at night.
What MMOs of the past or present would make for really great inspiration if another studio wanted to come along and make a game in that spirit but not in the same IP? In other words, which MMOs do you think deserve to be the mentors to a crop of future titles?
