Developer Sumo Newcastle and publisher Focus Home Interactive offered up what it hopes is a unique spin on the team-based PvPvE game during the recent PS5 State of Play event. It’s called Hood: Outlaws & Legends, a game set in a medieval time where thieves seek to take riches from an oppressive authority as well as one another.

“Faced with a merciless, unchecked state, rebels and rogues from every corner battle to claim their place among legends. To win influence with an oppressed people, rival gangs now compete in daring heists to hit the wealthy where it hurts. Folk hero or gold-hungry outlaw, only the best will escape with hard-earned riches.”

Hood tasks two teams of four with infiltrating an area and making away with its riches, avoiding or taking down AI patrols and bypassing defenses through unique skills or mystical abilities. Players can either utilize stealth to achieve their goal, or go in loud with full-on combat. Teams will eventually have to cross paths, meaning that PvP combat will erupt over the course of each match.

Hood is due to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at some point in 2021. Players can head to the game’s official site to sign up for a newsletter and a chance at a beta, while the game is available for wishlisting on Steam. We’ve also got a few screenshots and a trailer that intersperses pre-rendered cutscenes and gameplay footage below.
