MassivelyOP’s 2020 Golden Yachties: Best MMO rumor we want to be true

MassivelyOP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards continue today with our pick for best MMO rumor we want to be true. (If you’re wondering what the heck a Golden Yachtie is, you can get caught up with the first award.)

And the winner is…

We had several TV-MMO tie-ins this year, with everything from Fallout to Wizard101 making plans for a TV debut. But the one we most want to happen is a sequel for the Warcraft movie. Oh sure, it’ll be probably be terrible like the first one, but it made a ton of money and brought a lot of attention to the franchise – and to MMOs.

Seriously, cool it.

Want to nominate another winner? Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to check out our serious MMO awards while you’re at it.

I’d definitely have to pass on that. Hope that rumor is not true!

I didn’t mind the movie as much, especially after reading the novelization for it after watching the movie the first time. There were a few elements that were changed around but overall the movie was definitely one of the better video game films at it’s time. I think if they had paced each game as it’s own movie instead of combining the elements of the first game with some bits of the second game the pacing wouldn’t have felt so rushed. Shame the director was never able to get the funds to make a trilogy like he wanted to, here’s hoping they can get around to it in the future.

My future-vision indicates that nobody’s gonna front the money for this one before we reach some sort of stable ‘new normal’ for the film industry. And even then it’s iffy.

Before I read this I had no idea what I wanted, but now I also want a warcraft move sequel.

Burning Crusade Classic will be confirmed (I assume it has not officially been announced yet).

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind another Warcraft movie. It wasn’t worth the years and years of waiting to go into full production, but if they could get another one done in a couple years or whatever I would be down.

I liked the Warcraft movie.

Loved Warcraft except for a terrible casting decision in Callan. Really hope we get a sequel. Duncan Jones needs to direct the sequel as well.

Would love it as well! I know he said a while ago that was his plan, and what he wanted to do. No clue if that still stands, but one can hope!

Being honest with you, boss, i really don’t want them to waste money on this. Rather they just went full animation with a series.
