This news story would be pretty routine stuff on any other day, simply reporting that the House Shattered update of Star Trek Online is now live for console players. However, it seems like things have gone poorly for the Xbox One release, forcing the devs to roll back to a point before the update’s arrival.
It started yesterday with reports of login issues that escalated to working with Microsoft over the matter to ultimately announcing the rollback plans. The devs worked through the night in order to bring STO to a playable state for Xbox fans, and as of 4:00 a.m. EST, the rollback was completed.
An update on when House Shattered will return for Xbox One hasn’t been determined yet, but information will be shared as soon as it’s available. Otherwise, for PS4 players, the update brings all of the expected goodies: the latest episode of the Klingon War story, a new five-player Task Force Operation inspired by Star Trek: Picard, an Experimental Upgrade system that lets players add a Device Slot, a Console Slot, and a new Trait Slot to their favorite T5-U or T6 ships, and a revamp of some Warzone Klingon story arc missions.
Xbox One Servers are now live, without the House Shattered update. We will continue working this week, and have a new launch ETA for the update ASAP. Thank you for your patience today, Captains.
