We saw multiple smaller MMORPGs close down in 2021, and in fact in the new year we’ll be recapping all of them. But in today’s Daily Grind, I want to home in on the ones that sting the most.
For me, it’d definitely be Defiance. Gamigo killed off multiple MMOs this year, so Defiance’s death was only one among many, but in my opinion it was a relatively unique entry in the genre that suffered from serious mismanagement under two different developers. I mean, this game once had a relatively high-end TV show in a bizarre transmedia synergy experiment. And it outlasted the show!
What would you say was the most painful MMO sunset of 2021?
