The Daily Grind: Has an MMO’s launch ever made you turn ’round and play something else?

When Diablo Immortal launched last year, MOP’s Carlo was… not a fan. He actually recommended that folks just go buy six sourdough jacks from a popular fast-food chain instead as it would be money better spent. It was all deeply frustrating to him (and many of us!) as Diablo as a franchise is still beloved in spite of Blizzard.

So what did he do? Well, he bought those sammies, but he also went back to Diablo III and then wrote a whole piece about the journey after he realized that Diablo III already had all the stuff he wanted out of Diablo Immortal anyway, and as a bonus, he already owned that and didn’t have to pay another dime. I have had this happen to me over and over trying out new games that just wind up refreshing my love for something else inadvertently.
