It appears to be... a rock.

Remember when Archaeology was the hip happening new thing in World of Warcraft? That didn’t really work out, but the Azerothian Archives content that’s arriving in the upcoming Seeds of Renewal patch is clearly aiming to bring some of that spirit back. Sign up from the Roasted Ram to join up with the people who are investigating a specific portion of the Dragon Isles for archaeological significance, which will allow you to head out, plop down a totem, and start searching for important Finds.

Of course, the means of getting those Finds will include fighting enemies and playing minigames. You can also get special goggles to help you see scenes from the past and dig into the necessary research for all of the stuff you find. Rewards include two new cosmetic armor sets, two new mounts, and a number of individual cosmetic pieces from headgear to weapon skins. If you want to dig up some history for the first time again, you’ll want to jump right on these quests when the update goes live on January 16th.
