If you’ve played Final Fantasy XIV for any length of time, you’ve probably heard the advice that the standard sidequests are totally OK to ignore and skip entirely to focus on more important goals. However, one player is pushing back against this — and providing a helpful service — by cataloguing all of the MMO’s beneficial side missions.
“Every once in a while you find a gem–a bit of lore, a worthy reward, or even just a bit of story interesting enough to make the quest worthwhile,” the blogger wrote. “I am on my own quest: to complete every single golden sidequest in the game. Every. Single. One. As I complete each map section, I will add the ones actually worth your time here, so that you can skip the haystack and get straight to the needles.”
So far, this project has listed useful sidequests in the base game and Heavensward expansion with the promise of more to come. The project drew the larger FFXIV community’s attention, sparking a discussion on Reddit about the purpose and enjoyment of this oft-ignored content.
