Final Fantasy XIV prepares a new Moogle Treasure Trove event with expanded challenges starting on January 30

Less elf than hoped.

Generally speaking, Final Fantasy XIV has run the Moogle Treasure Trove event in the lead-up to a major patch, but the upcoming Hunt for Genesis event is going to be a bit different. For one thing, we already know its run time; rather than it running until the next patch, it’s going to be active from January 30th through March 11th. For another, there isn’t a patch at the end point of the event. And for a third, the event is offering a whole new interface element in the form of the Mogpendium, offering players a variety of different challenges to take on for irregular tomes.

In addition to the old-fashioned route of earning irregular tomes through specific duties done in matched parties, players will also have special weekly challenges, miniature objectives, and special larger-scale challenges to complete. Tomes can also be earned through more expansive activities, everything from ocean fishing to Gold Saucer events. And it’s clear that there’s a second round of gathering these irregular tomestones coming in the future, but this first round will run through February and a bit beyond on either side. So if you want what’s up for purchase or want to stockpile irregular tomes for the second event, get ready to keep watch on the Mogpendium starting next Tuesday.
