The vampiric player characters of V Rising – and by extension developer Stunlock Studios – are setting forth for brand-new lands, as the studio has just announced its plans to bring the survival sandbox to the PlayStation 5 console.

“This will mark V Rising and Stunlock Studios’ first step in expanding beyond the PC space into the world of consoles, and we’re proud to partner with Sony for this tremendous adventure. Our partnership underscores a commitment to excellence, empowering us to navigate this uncharted territory with precision while giving us space to innovate.”

The post confirms that the PS5 version will effectively be part of the full 1.0 release that’s planned for sometime this year and promises complete update parity between console and PC. Incidentally, Stunlock also confirms that gamepad support for the PC version is on the table, though a date for that functionality wasn’t announced. The announcement also makes no mention of cross-platform play.

The post also appears to hint at the game coming to other platforms, as it thanks a partnership with developer Auroch Digital for “[laying] the groundwork for exploring other platforms and constructing a grand staircase that V Rising can climb to soaring new heights.” In any case, PS5 fans can soon look forward to getting their neck nibblin’ on later this year.
