Early access for sandbox MMORPG The Wagadu Chronicles has not exactly had one of the most auspicious starts, with “Mixed” user reviews and absolutely abysmal numbers on Steam, while the game has a bare few series of bug fixing updates. However, developer Twin Drums is promising big movement forward for its fledgling MMORPG in a 2024 roadmap posted to its Discord over the weekend that looks at the next three quarters of the year as well as overall plans.
The roadmap opens by noting “a transitional (and complex) phase” for the studio, with a variety of alluded to industry forces that have caused its plans to not fully settle this year; while the team doesn’t explain, we suspect Riot’s decision to end its publishing partnerships didn’t help matters at the least. However, Twin Drums resolves to fully release TWC in 2025, with 2024’s primary goal being “completing the game by incorporating both our plans and the feedback from our community – as well as fully securing long term funds.”
To that point, the roadmap notes in Q1 2024 that Twin Drums has secured “a partnership that will aid in the growth of the game.” Details on this collaboration aren’t being shared yet, but the studio is promising “‘invisible’ technical work to prepare the game for an expanded audience.” Interestingly, this also holds hands with plans for French, Brazilian, and Spanish language support in the first quarter as well.
Moving on to Q2, players can look forward to several waka improvements, some more character customization features, and the start of in-game events that mark the transition from the old cycle into a new cycle. Finally, Q3 is bringing the ability to set sail in a ship and summon a pet. The roadmap also promises several quality-of-life updates that go beyond simple fixes and game balancing throughout the entire year.
More roadmap details are being promised as TWC’s plans expand through the year, but in the meantime you can read the full roadmap post by clicking the images below.
