If Age of Water’s been flowing right past you without getting your attention, maybe it’s time to dive right into this interesting-looking aquatic survival MMO — especially as it’s releasing into early access next month on April 18th.

As part of the lead-up to the launch, Gaijin-backed Three Whales Studio answered five pressing community questions about the start of the game’s live operation. The studio said that communication between players will be handled primarily via chat, that there will be some optional PvP content, that gamepads are supported, and that previous testers can pick up from where they left off in the prologue.

The studio affirmed that this is most definitely a multiplayer experience, saying, “Age of Water is an open world MMO game where you can meet other players, add them as friends, or join a group to complete a harder task for example. It’s especially interesting to look at the boats of the players that you meet, borrow unusual design solutions, and wonder where that player got a cool deckhouse or weapon for their boat.”

Age of Water is kind of like Kevin Costner’s ’90s opus Waterworld mixed with Sea of Thieves and Last Oasis; we chatted with the devs ourselves last month to get answers on everything from PvP and monetization to how many players the game treats as “massive.”
