Last time, Diablo IV put out an itemization explainer video for those who only have a minute. Now, a follow-up video is going a bit deeper, specifically zeroing in on on the OARPG’s reborn loot system and the upcoming endgame encounter known as The Pit.
The devs explain how item drops will start off with a primary and secondary stat, with affixes that are more beneficial to classes as opposed to fussy affixes that work in extremely specific situations. That’s not to suggest that build complexity is going away, however, as some of the more specific stats and ability changes will be spread out towards things like crafted gear built using the new tempering system, while fully tempered items can be masterworked up to 12 times to further ramp up their power.
Gear will also have a rare chance to appear with greater affixes, which are 1.5x stronger than normal affixes; items with this benefit can either be found as loot or purchased from obol vendors, and they can be traded to other players.
Finally, the video discusses The Pit, which is accessible by those who have runeshards and have completed a Nightmare difficulty dungeon. This new activity is promised to be a brutal challenge, with death penalties, randomized layouts and monster spawns, and a 15-minute timer for every delve, but is also the only way for players to get their hands on materworking materials along with other rewards. The video awaiting below has more granular details for those deep in D4’s cups.
