SMITE 2 enters into a second alpha weekend with two more gods and gameplay updates

Did you miss the last time SMITE 2 held a weekend alpha test? Fret not because there’s a second alpha test happening right now, which brings with it two more characters and the expected assortment of gameplay updates as Hi-Rez iterates on the MOBA.

The two new-to-the-sequel additions are Hades and Sol, both of whom have some tweaks to their playstyle: Hades is now more of a frontline fighter with updates to his ultimate skill and his Devour Souls ability, while Sol is seeing some changes to her abilities that leverage the split between strength and intelligence stats in order for her carry use and AoE attacks to be suitably familiar to fans.

The majority of the alpha build has otherwise continued to tweak the MOBA from a mechanical standpoint, with multiple updates to Conquest mode intended to speed up the pace of the game, a host of UI updates, changes to item stats, and further roster balancing. This alpha test also signals the first dip into more competitive scene, with an open bracket community tournament scheduled for this Saturday, June 1st.
