Old School RuneScape shares progress on the Sailing skill, continues to investigate Deadman foul play

It’s been quite some time since we heard much about Old School RuneScape’s Sailing skill – there was confirmation of phase one’s completion in May – but Jagex is ready to spill lots of beans once more with an in-depth behind the scenes dev blog about what’s been happening since.

The post recounts updates and improvements to the skill thanks to feedback from a closed alpha tech test and an upgrade to the Unity engine, with changes to the map to better indicate where ships can dock, the introduction of multiple ship types and sizes, arrangement of port facility placement, and tweaks to controls and navigation.

The blog closes with looks at some of the new sea areas added to the map, the promise of more islands to explore, and a quick look at ship combat involving players casting spells from the deck of a boat. Jagex has also confirmed plans for an open alpha tech test sometime next year, though it wants to run one more closed test beforehand.

In other OSRS news, the results check for Deadman: Armageddon that started at the beginning of this month is still continuing according to a brief update; Jagex is now tracking some possible foul play that has soured the results of the final contest, and these investigations are reaching deeper into certain accounts. The devs promise an update sometime next week.
