Just because it’s a brand-new expansion and era for World of Warcraft doesn’t mean that old Blizzard isn’t still lurking around. Indeed, the Fun Police are on the prowl this week, instituting a hotfix for the newly launched The War Within to slow down the leveling process from 70 to 80.
Blizzard said that the endgame Dragonflight gear ended up being a little too good for the start of The War Within: “It is entirely intended that effort put into gearing translates into a significant combat advantage at the start of a new expansion, but the values we’ve been seeing are extreme, often not even allowing time for normal combat rotations. This disparity also caused mixed-level groups to experience skewed results, with lower-level players contributing drastically more than level 80s.”
As a result, a hotfix will adjust the scaling of enemies in the expansion, making them more powerful in the 70-75 range. This nerf to leveling further inflamed an already divided community that saw the early access players — with four extra days in the pre-nerf period — enjoying extra advantage.
We want to provide additional details on today's leveling changes and balance fixes to group content.
• Changes aim to make the difficulty curve more gradual – enemy strength will actually increase by less per level in the mid-to-high 70s than it used to
• Players coming in…
