The Daily Grind: Are you giving New World a second chance?

As this post is going live and you’re reading this, it’s Tuesday morning, the New World Aeternum servers are online for Europe and about to fling open their doors for North and South America, and I’m nervous. I feel as if this is the last chance for the game, and I want to give it another go myself. But I’m still suspicious that the new OARPG label is less about coy marketing optics and more a warning that we can’t expect the level of content development MMORPGs usually entail. If we complain about drought, they can just tap the OARPG sign again.

And yet, no matter what they call it, it’s super pretty and robust and I still want to give it another chance, especially while the console hype is high and players are flooding in again. Ug, the launch FOMO again.

How about you? Are you giving New World a second chance? Or a first chance, if you never played before?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
