The initial release of Lord of the Rings Online: Legacy of Morgoth seems to be going generally fine, albeit with a few bumps and bugs. However, it’s the Elf avatar revamp that wasn’t even initially planned for the expansion that seems to be the main talking point this week as players look at and fret over their new appearances.
As might be expected, some players are loving their new looks while others feel dismay at the visuals, broken outfits, and missing emotes (SSG is working on a fix for the latter two). “You can’t take someone’s character that has been staying like that from Day 1 early access and turn it into some kind of monstrosity,” said one. Another gamer said that it looked like “forced surgery gone wrong.”
As for the expansion’s new baubles system, SSG said that this represents “a new reward type” with many more baubles planned for the future. For now, however, it’s being implemented to help reduce strain on inventories by moving toys over into skills.
