Pixel-art multiplayer sandbox Tinkertown launches on Xbox X|S, revamps its world map for 2.0 update

This may be the first time you’re ever hearing about Tinkertown, and I would’ve thought the same for me too, except that I looked it up, and we’ve actually covered it several times since 2022! Chris even streamed the game. It’s a multiplayer pixel-art ARPG sandbox featuring freeform character development, open building, robust exploration – basically all the stuff you’d want in a survival sandbox. It actually entered early access back in 2020 and officially launched in the summer of 2023.

Well, as you can probably guess from the fact that we’re covering it again, it’s continued chugging along since then, and this week, it’s hit two more milestones: It’s officially launched on Xbox Series X|S, and it’s rolled out its 2.0 update.

Said update revamps the world map for biome clarity, changes the layout of the landmass to allow more exploration space, adds the lava biome (yes, it’s hot, so dress appropriately), and inserts a ton of related content for that biome, like new dungeons, resources, plants, recipes, gear, tools, mobs, and quests. Developer Headup also says it has “massively improved performance” and integrated cloud saves with Steam.

The game is currently $17 on Steam, where reviews sit in the “mixed” range. A Nintendo Switch release is also planned for the future (“soon”).
