Wayfinder dropped an update last night with both good news and bad news for “the rest of 2024.” Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: Xbox players are still waiting for their time to shine. Originally, the game was supposed to hit Xbox by the end of October, but we’re now in the back third of November with no ETA.
“We realize it has taken longer than anticipated to get the Xbox version of the game out and we appreciate your patience,” Airship Syndicate says. “Our goal is for the game, along with the Critical Role Supporter Pack, to be available by end of the year. We’re excited to welcome Wayfinders on the Xbox Series X|S, who will be playing with Wayfinders across the other platforms and when we have a release date, we’ll share it.”
The other chunk of bad news is that while the devs wanted to get mod functionality out the door by the end of the year, that’s not happening either, and no, there’s no ETA for the rollout.
The good news is that Airship is planning another “major” release in December. The 1.1 update promises save slots, collectibles from last year’s event, new artifacts, a slate of improvements and bug fixes, and the new nightmare difficulty mode. Nightmare is available only when players are starting up a new game.
“Nightmare is a new difficulty setting even tougher than Heroic, and with it introduces one of the most requested features: rewards for completing ultimate challenges at the highest difficulty level! These rewards persist across all save slots once they’re unlocked in Nightmare mode, applying to both existing and new save files. The challenges offer rewards like dyes, personas, and housing items that grant crafting resources like Spectra and Archaic Bones, along with memory fragments and gold. Over 35 new items are available for those who complete all challenges, including a very special reward for those who complete every challenge.”
