Mediocre.

Would you like to know the future roster of heroes being added to Marvel Rivals over the next five years? Cool, so would the developers. Not because they aren’t in charge of it, but because by the statements of producer Weicong Wu and executive producer Danny Koo, they’re working about a year in advance. And if people are trying to figure all of the future plans out through datamining strings of text, they will find some dead ends… but those aren’t put there just to fool dataminers. They’re not placing them in there to fool people. Koo even said it outright: “No. We would rather spend our time developing the actual game.”

Wu and Koo also outlined the process for planning out new heroes. The team figures out what kind of new characters the overall environment needs, then lists out several Marvel characters who could fill those niches. From there, it’s time to reach out to Marvel Games and see which characters are on deck to be used soon in movies or shows or the like, at which point they usually have enough information to start moving forward on a specific hero. Which means there are going to be loads of names in the code, because there are loads of characters potentially added to the game. It’s not trolling, it’s just the process of adding new heroes.
