Classic Guild Wars is gearing up for its 20th birthday with a loot-filled celebration

The Guild Wars franchise is gearing up for quite a party this month as the original MMO is about to turn 20 years old.

“This month – #GuildWars turns 20 and the party starts on April 15 with many fun surprises,” ArenaNet tweeted. “Stay tuned as we gear up for a celebration that you won’t want to miss!”

Players on social media and Reddit are already letting their imaginations run wild with fantasies of remasters and classic versions, but based on the patch tease on the official wiki, it looks like an early festival, the permanent addition of old limited weapons to world drops, new permanent quests that reward no-drop versions of old special minis, and some “other new loot” too.

“And you’ll want to keep your eyes open for some other new loot appearing as you hunt for weapons.”

Worth noting is that ArenaNet actually sent a second Tweet after deleting the first one; the first showed a pic from team arenas, while the second is just Lion’s Arch.
