Leaderboard: What’s your biggest beef with Anthem?

If you’re still a little confused as to why EA would drop something like Apex Legends right as hype was reaching its peak for Anthem… well, I suspect it has a lot to do with other similar “it seemed like a good idea in the short-term” business moves major AAA companies have made in the last few weeks, whether or not it makes sense long-term.

That said, it’s not super clear that Anthem was going to be all fine and dandy even without its little brother photobombing its big moment. The game seemed hampered by high expectations for BioWare from its older school fans and its artificially elongated early access modes, plus so many gamers seemed confused about the business model (you would not believe how many people were absolutely convinced the game would launch with lockboxes, no matter how many times BioWare promised that was not happening).

The first weekend of its official launch, its Metacritic scores are solidly “meh,” and we even had reports of the game hitting the bargain bin already. The Reddit fanbase is actually more worried than anything, comparing it to other decent games that had lackluster launches, like The Division. (Although they’re certainly raising a stink over the ongoing loot issues.) I’m curious how the MMO-centric audience is taking it. What’s your biggest beef with Anthem?
