As we approach the planned launch of World of Warcraft: Classic, it turns out we’re getting a larger number of content updates than were originally announced at last year’s BlizzCon. Before you get too excited, it’s still all familiar old content; it’s just being staggered out over a wider timeframe, expanding from four phases of content patches to six, with phases two through six still to be determined while phase one will launch with the Classic client in the summer.
The increased number of drops allows for the game to retain certain access limitations, like ensuring that Zul’gurub gear isn’t available at the same time as Blackwing Lair progression starts. There’s also no firm choices made yet on PvP rewards, as those systems changed over time both in terms of acquisition and gear power. But if you were deeply concerned that having Zul’gurub too early would ruin the feel of the game world, well, worry no longer.
