Ah global chat — or world chat, as we sometimes call it. Trade chat? Whatever, it’s the chat channel that goes out to everyone in the game. You know the one. It’s where we learn about how this game stacks up to World of Warcraft, where we hear stale memes from 2006, where political trolls make their nests, and where the greatest thinkers of our age share their incredible wisdom.
The question is: Do you leave it on or turn it off? I myself am not very consistent with this. If I have a chatty guild and the world channel is particularly toxic, I’ll toggle it off and not feel guilty about it. But in some games, I leave it on for the extra dose of virtual companionship and occasional edifying conversations.
