Yesterday, when ArenaNet laid down Guild Wars 2’s roadmap for the next few months, the studio teased that the game would be coming to the Epic Games Store later in November. Apparently that means literally today.
“Guild Wars 2 is now on the Epic Games Store!” the studio says. “We’re excited to make the world of Tyria accessible to new audiences, and with the recent launch of Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Epic Games Store players can dive into the core Guild Wars 2 experience for free, with the same access as free accounts created on GuildWars2.com.” All of the expansions are available on EGS, too.
The game is currently running a “hero jump start event” through November 25th, through which “where players can earn bonus experience and choose between a powerful main-hand or two-handed exotic weapon that scales dynamically with their level,” so if you’ve been holding out for the game on EGS, first of all, who are you, and second, have fun taking advantage of that.
ArenaNet does warn players that if you create a new GW2 account through EGS, you won’t be able to link it to accounts through Steam or the official site, but of course, since this is an MMORPG, it has full crossplay with players on all platforms.
