The Daily Grind: Who’s the most relatable NPC in an MMORPG?

Multiple commenters in Tina’s recent Guild Wars 2 column homed in on the character Taimi as being the glue that holds the game’s latest story episode together. She’s a snarky Asuran prodigy who’s afflicted with a degenerative disease that makes it hard for her to move around — that already makes her unique in the genre. After she parts ways with your character during the episode, she still manages to get in her quips — through what amounts to a walkie-talkie you stuff in your backpack. Just when you forget about her, she busts out with another snappy line to remind you that yep, she was listening and is one step ahead of you (and everyone else, which is why it’s good she’s on your side). She plays the role of the player — she’s very often saying what we’re thinking on the other side of the screen!

That got Tina and me to talking about memorable NPCs in MMOs, and we thought we’d pose the question to you: Who’s the most relatable NPC in an MMORPG?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
