League of Legends gets replay functionality next season

Well, points for effort.
If you don’t play League of Legends, the fact that replay functionality is being added to the game probably doesn’t mean much to you. Even if you do play, you might think it’s more of a luxury than anything. But if you play at a competitive level, you know that replays are incredibly helpful for analyzing your performance after a match, and seeing replays from other players can help you get better as you understand what that other player did. So the fact that the game will now have client-based replay functionality is, in fact, a very good thing.

Saving replays stores the footage as a .webm file on your hard drive, so you’ll be able to share and distribute replays as necessary and should be able to view them on a variety of devices. The functionality will be available in the preseason patch, which will make a large portion of the playerbase quite happy… and might leave other parts of the playerbase a bit baffled as to why this functionality was so important, but it’s not for them.
