Conan Exile’s struggle to stay on top of the high demand for the survival sandbox and its troubles with shards continues, as Funcom announced that it is bringing back online its official servers — including several new ones. The studio had taken its official servers offline last weekend as it switched server providers. There are currently over 12,000 privately run servers.

“We are in the process of bringing online both new, clean servers, as well as servers that have the old databases and the buildings, items, and progress of everyone who played on those servers. That way you can choose if you want to go back where you left off or start afresh,” the studio said.

Funcom sent out a press statement saying that it will be talking more about the future of this title at GDC and PAX East, but in the meantime players can check out the released development kit that will allow them to mod the game to their hearts’ content.

“We are deeply humbled and very grateful for the initial success of Conan Exiles,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais. “Funcom has gone through some challenging times in recent years and seeing the game we have poured so much time and effort into gain this amount of traction so quickly is very invigorating for everyone who works here. This is just the start of the early access adventure and we will do whatever it takes to make sure Conan Exiles turns into a fully-fledged game that has something to offer new and old fans of both Conan and survival games.”
